Founder and musical director of Central Conservatory Preparatory School

Everyone needs to face with choices, which will determine one’s personal values and path of life.

Looking back, I believe that Central Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School are two milestones in my life. Chinese education gives priority to fundamental training, which teaches students to be self-disciplinedand encourages them to work hard. Western education, on the other hand, emphasizes the importance of personality and innovation ability. To be asuccessful musician, one should balance the understanding of both Chinese and Western educational ideas and approaches.

Facing different background, we should embrace the diversity of cultures and education. In 2003, I went back to China and began my teaching career aiming to bring back this education theory to Central Conservatory Preparatory School and to my hometown.

With rigorous scholarship attitude, Central Conservatory Preparatory School prepares talented students to world-class music institutionsand comprehensive universities. CCPS strictly controls the student-faculty ratio and balances Music, English and Chinese courses. CCPS connects with worldfirst-class universities and work out a personalized education plan for each student.

We hope that all CCPS students can possess the spirits of efforts and dedication as the school pursues. We encourage students to always strive for better future in life, to be curious about the uncertainly and to be brave for challenges. That is the way of growth.

Russell, a British philosopher, once said: “Diversity is essential to happiness; success is not the mass production under a single standard”. In an ideal educational system, children should have different paths and modes to success. Personality and excellence do not have to conflict. Diversity is rooted in a fundamental goal to be a well-rounded person who is confident because of thinking and creating and to be a happy person because of love and responsibility.

There is no doubt that diversification fosters talented musician in the 21st century. Central Conservatory Preparatory School will serve as the first step for Chinese music students to develop diversification. We believe that our school life will enable students to follow the right path to actively pursue their musical dreams.
